These are ibexes. They are mountain goats that stand about 18 inches high.

This is En Gedi, where David and Saul played cat-and-mouse. Recall that David caught Saul relieving himself in one of the caves, but opted not to kill him (taking a swatch of his coat as proof that he could have).
